Education
2005 - 2010
University of Utah
Strategic Communication |
Bachelor's of Science
Strategic Communication is the public relations and marketing track of the University of Utah's communications department. Hush Puppies and hipster upended my perspective of marketing and PR when I first read Gladwell's The Tipping Point and became fascinated by the social constructs of communication - shout out to professor Norm Elliot!
Political Science |
Bachelor's of Science
I pursued this degree driven by a passion for local politics and communities. It's not red or blue that I care about, it's caucuses, council meetings, town halls, volunteer opportunities, conversations, and perspectives. It taught me to never underestimate our power on a local level. It also propelled my love of statistics thanks to learning the ins and outs of polling and elections - shout out to professor and legend Dan Jones!

From blogs and AdWords to get Google’s and new clients' attention to video creation, A/V social media stories, and traditional advertising strategies like print and audio, I have extensive experience grabbing attention on any budget.
There is no better way to tell the world what makes your company incredible than a website that does the talking for you. If a picture is worth a thousand words, your website is worth a thousand more. I’ve created 3 websites that immediately increased traffic and boosted sales goals on three different platforms, and it wasn’t by chance. I'm able to work in all major web platforms.
With experience in four different email clients (Constant Contact, Mailchimp, SendGrid, and Zoho Campaigns), I’ve organically grown lists through strategic content and evaluated the impact of everything sent for continuous improvement. I’ve had significant success studying my audience and bifurcating a “master list” to drive a targeted marketing strategy that reaches the right people, at the right time, with the right message.
Amazing things happen in business development when you throw the power of a strong brand and creative content into the mix. From the initial conversation with a “big deal” to writing and laying out winning proposals, I’ve been there for every step of the process including the handshake.

Another way to leverage business development and marketing efforts to maximize the impact of any team is the CRM. Marketing and communications can provide valuable intel to inform targeted business development based on how a potential client interacts with the organization’s content. Conversely, the business development team helps grow curated marketing segments to strategically tap as a no-cost, low-cost resource for growth.

From being a member of the community talking to new friends at a farmer’s market to building a custom event management platform for the Solar Power and Energy Storage Mountain West conference, I’ve been highly effective on every side of events and conferences, big and small.

Social media is only as good as its strategy and evaluation. Growing a fanbase for your work can be as simple as knowing your network and highlighting what makes your company stand out, as long as you know how to interact, influence, and make real-time strategic adjustments to meet goals.
I have extensive experience in Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, and Premier, and knowing the Office suite like the back of my hand. This experience sets me apart with the rare ability to design, implement, and evaluate a multi-media, multi-channel communications on a fraction of the budget. Even when I’m working in-house, quality is never compromised.

During my time at the National Energy Foundation (NEF), I attended 6 years of professional conferences in the energy industry including the Association of Energy Services Professionals (AESP), American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy (ACEEE), Behavior, Energy, and Climate Change (BECC) and more. Not only did I meet amazing friends in the energy and utility worlds, but I also had the opportunity to serve as the vice-chair of the Marketing Topic Committee. In that position, I was able to bounce ideas and best practices around with some of the most knowledgeable people in the energy communications game.
2019 - 2022
KDNK Community Access Radio Board Member
Secretary
Public radio encapsulates many of my favorite things - music, news, community, communications and volunteer work. I ran to be the secretary and put my organizational skills to use for the station. I'm still highly involved and serve as a reliable volunteer and member of the events committee
